September 23, 2025: A new funding avenue has opened up for Indian startups looking to scale globally. 888 VC, an early-stage venture capital firm headquartered in Bengaluru, has announced the launch of a Rs 175 crore fund to support startups working in AI, deep tech, and sustainability.
Over the next three years, the firm plans to invest between Rs 2 crore to Rs 4 crore in each selected startup. The focus will be on ventures that are India-based but globally scalable, according to the fund’s announcement.
Startups in AI, Sustainability Get Funding Push from 888 VC
The new fund comes at a time when investor interest in emerging technologies is gaining traction in India. Rohit Bafna, Founder and CEO of 888 VC, noted that the country is increasingly playing a pivotal role in innovation. He highlighted that:
- AI startups in India are projected to surpass $17 billion by 2027
- Deep tech funding has seen a 2.5X growth in the past three years
- Sustainability ventures attracted about $2.5 billion in 2024 alone
In addition to the new fund, 888 VC introduced GRO8, a cross-border platform designed to connect startups with global investors and mentors. The initiative offers startups access to capital, guidance, and international networks, an important mix for early-stage growth.
To date, 888 VC has supported more than 20 startups and facilitated over $12 million in syndicated investments. The firm maintains a presence in India, the UAE, and the US, helping startups tap into opportunities beyond their local markets.
