September 22, 2026: Most fintech startups launch with a brokerage license and figure out the community later. Pune-based Definedge took the exact opposite route. Founded by Prashant Shah and Rajesh Badiye, the company started out with investor education, charting software, and community building long before it ever touched broking.
That patient, product-led approach has quietly paid off. Definedge’s overall user base has surged 125% over the past 14 months and scaled tenfold over the past three years, entirely driven by word of mouth. Now, the company has secured a Rs 22 crore funding round to stitch its disparate tools into a single, connected ecosystem.
Definedge’s Push into AI-Driven Retail Trading and Wealth Management
Rather than functioning as a standalone trading app, Definedge operates a suite of specialized products. This includes Zone for technical analysis, Opstra for options analytics, Algostra for no-code algorithmic trading, and Gurukul for investor education.
The crown jewel of its current growth phase is Momentify, a systematic investing tool that crossed Rs 1,000 crore in assets under management just 15 months after launch. With a fresh target of hitting Rs 5,000 crore in AUM over the next 24 months, Definedge is expanding Momentify beyond a simple systematic tool into a broader wealth-creation engine.
The fresh capital is earmarked for upgrading low-latency technology infrastructure, expanding product development, ramping up distribution, and bolstering margin funding capacity. As retail trading volumes spike and automation becomes the norm, shoring up this infrastructure layer is critical.
Co-founder and CEO Prashant Shah notes that the long-term vision is to weave research, testing, execution, and education into an intuitive experience where artificial intelligence and automation help users stick to their trading rules with absolute consistency.
Scaling this model will test whether a community-first, education-heavy fintech can successfully mature into a full-fledged wealth platform without losing the trust that built it. The Rs 22 crore round—backed by veterans like Nitin Agarwal, Anant Jain, D Prasad, and Sachin Kasera, gives Definedge the runway to find out.
