27 Indian Fintechs Make World’s Top 500 List, India Ranks 3rd Globally

July 23, 2026: India’s fintech sector has strengthened its global standing after 27 domestic companies were featured in CNBC and Statista’s World’s Top Fintech Companies 2026 list, placing the country third worldwide by the number of recognised firms. Only the United States and the United Kingdom had more companies on this year’s list, underlining India’s growing influence in the global financial technology landscape.

The annual report highlights 500 fintech companies from 55 countries and territories across eight categories, including payments, alternative financing, enterprise fintech, insurtech, neobanking, wealth technology, digital assets and regtech. The companies are grouped alphabetically within their categories rather than ranked by performance.

Payments emerged as India’s strongest segment, accounting for eight of the country’s recognised companies. BharatPe, Cashfree, Freecharge, MobiKwik, PhonePe, Skydo, Razorpay and Paytm secured places in the category, reflecting the country’s continued leadership in digital payments.

Global Recognition Highlights India’s Fintechs Evolution

According to the report, payments remain the largest fintechs segment globally, although companies are increasingly broadening their offerings to include services such as real-time domestic transfers, cross-border payments and broader financial products.

India also recorded a notable presence in alternative financing, with Aye Finance, InCred, Moneyview, NeoGrowth and Oxyzo earning recognition for expanding access to credit for businesses and consumers.

In enterprise fintechs space, CredAble, InstantPay, Perfios and Zaggle were acknowledged for developing technology platforms that help financial institutions and enterprises improve operational efficiency and modernise financial processes.

The insurtech category featured Plum, PolicyBazaar, PolicyBoss and PolicyX.com, highlighting the continued growth of digital insurance platforms that simplify policy discovery, distribution and customer engagement.

The report attributes India’s growing representation to rapid digital adoption, a vibrant fintechs startup ecosystem and sustained economic growth, factors that have helped position the country among the world’s most active fintech markets.

Beyond recognising leading companies, the report also points to a broader shift in the industry’s evolution. Artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming central to fintech operations, supporting functions such as fraud detection, underwriting, compliance, identity verification and risk management. At the same time, blockchain technology is expanding into institutional financial services beyond its traditional association with cryptocurrencies.

Citing McKinsey’s The Next Age of Fintech report, CNBC noted that the global fintech industry generated an estimated $650 billion in revenue in 2025, representing 21% year-on-year growth. Publicly listed fintech companies collectively reached a record market capitalisation of $850 billion, while the sector also witnessed 31 significant initial public offerings during the year.

For the 2026 edition, Statista evaluated nearly 3,500 fintechs companies using more than 25,000 data points before selecting the final 500 companies recognised in this year’s global list.
