The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has unveiled an exciting food event aimed at fostering innovation in Millet Recipes . Titled AMRUT – ‘AICTE Millet Recipe Unleashing Talent’, this competition invites students, faculty members, and support staff from accredited institutions to showcase their culinary prowess by preparing inventive yet traditional recipes centered around millets.
Structured into three categories—Starters (encompassing breakfast and snacks), Main Course (encompassing lunch and dinner), and Desserts and Confectioneries—the competition will evaluate recipes based on varying millet ratios: 70 percent and above, 50-70 percent, and 30-50 percent.
Teams interested in participating in the Millet Recipes competition can submit their applications via the Google form accessible on the AICTE AMRUT web portal. Selected teams from each of the nine sub-categories will advance to the Grand Finale in Delhi. Winning teams in each sub-category will be honored with certificates and a cash prize of ₹1 Lakh.
The official notification from AICTE highlighted, “The International Year of Millets 2023 provided an opportunity to raise awareness about the multifaceted advantages of millets, spanning nutrition, health, environmental sustainability, and economic development. This initiative facilitated scientific collaboration, forged partnerships, mobilized stakeholders to promote and produce millets, and encouraged their consumption among the public.”
Who is eligible to apply for AMRUT Millet Recipe Competition 2024
To be eligible for the AICTE Millet Recipe contest, a team must comprise a maximum of four participants, including at least one female member. Participants can apply for multiple categories by submitting separate applications.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Team Size: Maximum 4 participants (with at least one female
member) - Participants must be current students, serving faculties and
supporting staff. - Separate application is to be submitted if the team intends to
participate in more than one category. - Teams may be a blend of students, serving faculties and supporting
staff. However exclusive teams of students, serving faculties and
supporting staff can also participate.
The deadline for applications is January 25, 2024. AICTE will announce the shortlisted teams on February 6, 2024, paving the way for the Grand Finale scheduled to take place in Delhi on March 1, 2024.
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA for AMRUT Millet Recipe Innovation
Contestants will be judged on the following criteria
- Uniqueness and Innovation.
- Composition (major use of millets).
- Flavour.
- Easiness to prepare & acceptability.
Technical guidelines mandate that candidates prepare a millet recipe prominently featuring millets as a key ingredient. Participants must submit three high-resolution photographs in a single file: one showcasing the ingredients used, another displaying the prepared dish, and the final one featuring the participants alongside their creation.
