August 5, 2025: Telangana continues to make its mark in India’s startup ecosystem, with 1,404 entities earning recognition under the Startup India initiative as of June 2025. The data, released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, highlights the state’s growing contribution to India’s innovation-driven economy.
The recognition comes from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), which has so far acknowledged a total of 22,977 startups across the country in 2025 alone.
In previous years, Telangana saw the recognition of 1,809 startups in 2024, 1,760 in 2023, and 1,381 in 2022, reflecting a consistent upward trajectory in entrepreneurial activity in the state.
National Startups Growth and Women-Led Ventures
Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Jitin Prasada, informed Parliament on Tuesday that a cumulative total of 1,80,683 startups have been recognized under the Startup India initiative as of June 30, 2025.
Significantly, over 87,000 of these startups have at least one woman in a leadership role, either as a director or partner, showcasing the government’s efforts to support inclusive entrepreneurship. Several schemes and targeted programmes are in place to assist women-led ventures and bridge the gender gap in startup leadership.
International Collaboration on the Rise
To foster cross-border innovation, the government is also focusing on global collaboration. Events such as Startup Mahakumbh and the Global Venture Capital Summit are being hosted to connect Indian startups with international investors, incubators, and key ecosystem stakeholders.
This information was shared in response to a parliamentary question by MP Naveen Jindal during a Lok Sabha session on the Startup India initiative.
