Yogi Govt Spurs Startups with ₹140 Cr Aid

Lucknow, September 18, 2025: The Uttar Pradesh government has allocated nearly ₹140 crore to enhance the state’s startup ecosystem, aiming to drive innovation, entrepreneurship, and job creation among youth.

With over 17,000 active startups, Uttar Pradesh is now one of India’s most prominent states in the startup landscape. The financial support is part of the state’s broader strategy to foster entrepreneurship, particularly in emerging sectors.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the role of startups in advancing key areas such as healthcare, agriculture, and biotechnology. He reiterated the government’s vision of encouraging young people to become job creators rather than job seekers.

Incubators and CoEs Drive Startups Entrepreneurial Momentum in UP

The state’s initiative includes a robust support infrastructure, comprising 72 incubators and seven Centres of Excellence (CoEs). These institutions are designed to provide startups with mentorship, technical assistance, and access to funding.

“Startups in Uttar Pradesh are contributing significantly to innovation-led growth. The state government is committed to providing the necessary resources and policy support,” said an official statement.

This investment aligns with the broader national goal of boosting self-reliance and innovation-driven economic growth, particularly through state-level support and ecosystem development.

Uttar Pradesh has become a key player in India’s startup landscape, with over 14,200 DPIIT-recognised startups. More than 7,200 of these have at least one woman director, and 66% are in the ideation or validation stages, indicating strong early-stage activity.

The ecosystem has created over 1 lakh jobs and produced 8 unicorns. Supporting this growth are 70+ incubators and 7 Centres of Excellence, offering vital infrastructure and guidance to emerging ventures.

The move is expected to further position Uttar Pradesh as a startup hub, encouraging more entrepreneurs to launch ventures across diverse sectors.
