Since the Covid-19 pandemic about 214 startups have been certified by the state government which led to remote working.

Goa, renowned for its scenic beauty, is now set to redefine its identity by encouraging entrepreneurs to establish their startups amid the picturesque backdrop of its beaches and heritage locations.

Here are the 5 unique ways the Government of Goa is promoting itself as a startup hub

  1. Digital Nomad Visas for foreign nationals in Goa

Rohan Khaunte, minister of tourism, IT and printing & stationery said the state has urged the central government to issue digital nomad visas so that foreign professionals could come and work from Goa. About 35% of the startups in the state are driven by women. The state government is focusing on training more women, Khaunte added.

Khaunte said that the state government is also encouraging more professionals and startup entrepreneurs to come to the state where the best work-life balance could be struck. The government is shifting its focus from hard infrastructure to human capital to capitalize on human resources through the global opportunities aggregator (GOA) initiative.

This platform will facilitate seamless remote collaboration, safeguard intellectual property, provide mentorship, and introduce a universal access card for accessing facilities like medical services, transportation, internet, co-living, and more.

2. Unlocking Potential: Beach Workstations and Digital Nomad Visas

The government envisions creating dynamic working spaces on the state’s iconic beaches, transforming them into sea hubs equipped with digital workstations.
