The event, marking the first anniversary of the National Portal for Rooftop Solar and the Foundation Day of the All India Renewable Energy Associations (AIREA), showcased the nation’s unwavering commitment to achieving energy security and sustainability.

India’s visionary target of reaching 175 GW of renewable energy by 2022, set during the COP 2015 conference, was achieved well ahead of the designated timeline, earning international acclaim.
Building on this momentous achievement, at the recent COP 26 conference, India boldly announced its new ambition to reach 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030, with a steadfast goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070. Minister Khuba proudly proclaimed India as the only nation to have realized the COP-15 goal, yet emphasized the continued efforts required to attain the net-zero target.
Indigenous Production Revolutionizes the Energy Sector
Minister Khuba shed light on the government’s strategic moves towards self-sufficiency and indigenous production in the energy sector. The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes for renewable energy are pivotal in this endeavor, aiming to promote clean energy sources.
With an impressive PLI of Rs. 1500 crore already in motion, the scheme aims to enable the installation of 65 GW capacity through an investment of Rs. 19500 crore. As part of the ambitious vision, India aspires to achieve a total of 500 GW by 2030, with a substantial 280 GW generated from solar energy.
Harnessing the Power of Hydrogen
As a testament to India’s commitment to clean energy sources, the government is actively implementing a PLI scheme of Rs. 17500 crore for the National Hydrogen Mission.
