Secretary MeitY pledge support to 10000 new startups

Alkesh Kumar Sharma, Secretary of MeitY, stated that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is committed to giving businesses, especially growth-stage startups, all required support.

Speaking at a MeitY Startup Hub (MSH) event, Sharma commended Indian startups for their drive and inventiveness. He remarked, “The creativity and vigour of Indian startups was outstanding.”

Representatives from eight startups informed Sharma and the other attendees during the MSH session on the type of support they need from the federal government to expand their enterprises.

Additionally, the startups have discussed their achievements and asked the ministry for advice.

The session featured participation from a number of startups, including the drone startup Gurutvaa Systems, the edtech startup Next Skills 360, the agritech startup Krishify Farmstock, the healthtech startup AyuRhythm, the edtech startup KidEx, the medtech startup TeraLumen, the healthtech startup iMumz, and the fintech startup Recur Club.

MeitY to support startups growth momentum

MeitY came up with the idea for the MSH. It was initially established to support startups, innovation, and intellectual property development. It has helped support close to 3000 IT firms to date and hopes to help more than 10,000 entrepreneurs during the next three to five years.

To promote startups and grow its beneficiary network, the MSH has been collaborating with various organisations including, corporates, multinational companies, tech companies, government organisations and semi-government entities. It has also led several cohorts to accelerate the startups’ growth, that included the above-mentioned eight startups as well.

In the near future, the MSH session is likely to be held in association with the Centre’s deeptech startup platform called Digital India GENESIS. The two bodies will concertedly help upscale startups working in Tier-I and II cities of India.
