The Architect of Innovation: Dr. Krishna Ella Vitalizes Odisha’s Biotech

Feb 20: Sapigen Biologix a vision driven, and led by Dr. Krishna Ella of Bharat Biotech at Odisha Biotech Park, Andharua, is expected to begin its commercial production of vaccines by May this year. VK Pandian, chairman 5T and Nabin Odisha, stated after conducting a tour of the plant recently.

Official sources said the plant will have a capacity to produce 2.4 crore doses of different vaccines per day. It is in its final phase of commissioning. “With its full capacity, this facility in Odisha will be the biggest vaccine producing plant in the country,” according to sources.

Dr Krishna Ella of Bharat Biotech, who was instrumental in catalyzing the growth of Genome Valley in India is the brain behind this venture which is being established with an investment of Rs 1500 crores. It will create 1500 direct employment, and most of talent are being hired locally from Odisha. The plant plans to produce 15 plus different vaccines for diseases like cholera and malaria, said the official statement of chief minister’s office (CMO).

The Chairman of 5T visited all the subunits of the plant and interacted with the management and employees and instructed all govt agencies to assist in the commissioning of the plant within the next three months.

Pandian has assured all support from the government. He expressed confidence that with this large anchor manufacturing plant, many other complementary biotechnology related product companies will get attracted to the Odisha Biotech Park, bringing major investments and creating jobs in this speciality field.
