The report showed that India’s median mobile download speed reached 29.85 Mbps, while the upload speed reached 6.16 Mbps, with a latency of 31 milliseconds.
The mobile upload speed in India improved by 18% from 25.29 Mbps in December 2022, while the upload speed improved by 12% at the same time. The United Arab Emirates was ranked in the top spot, with a median download speed of 161.15 Mbps, 5.4 times faster than India. Papua New Guinea was the biggest gainer during January 2023, climbing 24 spots to reach 101 in the mobile internet speed ranking.
In terms of fixed broadband, India managed to climb two spots to become the 79th fastest internet connection out of a total of 179 countries that Ookla tracks.
