Bogomil Balkansky, partner at Sequoia announced on twitter today – We just launched @Sequoia ‘s fifth seed fund and opened applications for the latest cohort of Arc, our seed stage catalyst. There are a lot of interesting opportunities across markets, but here’s what he is most excited about says – Bogomil.
In his tweet he wrote – We just launched @Sequoia‘s fifth seed fund and opened applications for the latest cohort of Arc, our seed stage catalyst. There are a lot of interesting opportunites across markets, but here’s what I’m most excited about.
To start with he says – Generative #AI will transform all engineering workflows and the entire toolchain: from the IDE, code reviews, debugging, and CI/CD.
Microservices have emerged as the predominant new application architecture. Every new platform solves some old problems but creates new ones. @temporalio and @GetCortexApp are great examples of tackling microservices problems. Who is next?
In #cybersecurity, identity and access continue to be big challenges. Reasoning who should have access to what, and what level of access is a gnarly problem in search of good solutions.
Security teams have all the visibility tools they need, but struggle to take action at scale on all the problems that need to be addressed – Bogomil Balkansky of Sequoia
According to Bogogmil Markets come and go, so we need to move in lockstep with their evolution. The logical domains for him are cloud infrastructure, developer tools, DevOps, open source, observability as well as SaaS apps for sales and marketing, because that’s where his background is. But he tries to follow the advice several of his partners gave him his firt tip – don’t specialize too narrowly, and get out of the comfort zone.
In terms of specific companies and entrepreneurs, Bogomil Balkansky says he is looking for the same things he did when he was running large teams and hiring people: iconoclastic thinking, the courage to break paradigms, defiance of common wisdom. Ideas that aren’t obvious and that challenge hiw own assumptions.
I’m also looking for charisma, but that can manifest in different ways. Maybe you’re a great salesperson, but maybe you’re a deep thinker or an amazing technologist or an exceptional recruiter. It’s magnetism says Bogomil.
