Hyderabad, October 21, 2026: AI agent Startup Persona is refining the hardware of its AI wearable, the Persona Band, and testing sample production runs as it works towards planned December 2026 shipments.
For Hyderabad’s Aarav Garg, the 20-year-old behind the company’s product development, the current phase is focused on validating the design, resolving potential failure points and ensuring consistent quality before the first mass production run is approved.
The team has refined the Band’s design, with particular attention to making it easier for users to change straps and put the device on or take it off. The focus extends beyond functionality to the overall product experience, including materials, finish, unboxing, setup and everyday use. The remaining work involves identifying and addressing issues that could affect reliability or consistency during production.
One of the biggest engineering challenges has been fitting a speaker, a dual microphone array and a battery designed to last three to five days into the compact device. The company initially considered leaving out the speaker in its first version but decided that users should be able to speak to the Band and hear its responses directly, rather than having to turn to their phones. The decision adds engineering and manufacturing complexity but is intended to make the on-device interaction more complete.

The transition from prototype to production has also required close collaboration with manufacturing partners in China. Persona has developed an unconventional strap mechanism to simplify everyday use, creating manufacturing challenges that conventional designs may not present. The team is testing how materials, mechanisms and assembly processes work together, including durability tests that involve pressing the button 10,000 times and submerging units to check for water ingress.
“The real challenge is making something that feels simple to use while getting the engineering and manufacturing details right behind the scenes. We are focused on validating the design, testing reliability and ensuring consistent quality before mass production. The Band is our starting point, and what we learn from shipping and improving it will help shape what comes next.” said Aarav Garg, founding team member and Chief Hardware Officer at Persona.
Persona says a substantial part of its hardware engineering is specific to the product, including its compact internal layout and strap mechanism. It has also developed custom components, including a battery designed around the space available inside the device. External suppliers and manufacturing partners contribute specialist components and manufacturing expertise, with the company working closely with them to ensure that its designs can be produced consistently. Persona has not yet attached production yield or cost saving figures to its ongoing work.
After the Persona Band reaches the market, the company intends to focus on battery performance, reliability and sustained daily use, alongside manufacturing quality and costs as production scales. Software improvements are also expected to make the product more useful over time.
Aarav said the Band is the starting point for a broader product effort. Persona is developing an intelligence layer intended to power future products and has additional hardware form factors planned internally. The experience gained from shipping and improving the Band is expected to inform that development.
The company describes the Band as a way to interact with AI without looking down at your phone – essentially turning the assistant into something closer to a personal chief of staff than another chatbot. The device is currently available for $179 preorder, with shipments planned for December 2026.
Persona has raised US$10 million in a funding round led by Vine Ventures, with participation from Cory Levy and Collective Global, at a reported valuation of US$100 million. The company plans to use the funding to support its product and business development as it prepares for launch.
